After a semester of studying Northern Renaissance art, Vermeer Van Delft became my favorite artist. I've been lucky to see some of his original work in Washington D.C. and the Netherlands. Vermeer painted pristine images of home life. The way he uses dabs of color to create detailed lace on a dress or the reflection of the sun on glass is extraordinary. I visited Delft, where Vermeer lived, while I was in college. It's as beautiful and quaint as Vermeer painted it.
